It's been a while

I'm pretty sure that when this year started I'd committed myself to being the queen of content, and turning over a new leaf of organisation. 10 months into 2018 and I guess it's safe to say that didn't quite happen, I guess old habits die hard.

It's not that I've not wanted to write, in fact I've opened up the laptop countless times, staring at the blank screen and willing the words to flow out. The motivation was there, but I just couldn't muster the ideas. This year I've found myself battling with the type of content I want to create and how it would compare to that of others. The key word here being compare. They say that 'comparison is the thief of joy' and it couldn't be more true. It's strange because in my day to day life I don't struggle with comparison in the slightest, I like what I like and I'm not particularly bothered by what others think of me. When it comes to this space, however, it continuously plays on my mind.

Over the last couple of months I've been doing some hard thinking about where I'd like to take this blog, and I've come to realise that I'm at my best when I don't overcomplicate. So we're taking it back to basics, back to the the content I like to read, back to the topics I enjoy, it's bound to be a bit scattered and all over the place, but that's me. It's going to be on my terms, what I want to write when I want to write it.

No more worrying about whether it'll match up to the work of others, no more empty promises and no more over committing. I'm just going to do my best.
