December Favourites

Here we have it, my last favourites post of 2017 and I've just about managed to get it up at an acceptable time (within the second week of January is cool right?) It's safe to say I had an absolute mare with these posts last year, but we got there eventually and hopefully this has put me in good stead to be able to get these posts up every month on time for the whole of 2018. So without further ado these are all the things I loved throughout December 2017.

Over the last 6 months or so I've developed a massive obsession with Korean beauty products, but sheet masks have been a new discovery for me, and I'm actually really annoyed at myself that I've only just found them. Once you get over the initial awkwardness of looking a bit weird with a wet sheet on your face they are actually such a game changer. They are so hydrating and leave my skin so soft to touch without being greasy in the slightest. The ones that I currently use are from boots and they have different specific functions, my favourites are the hydrating ones and the energising ones as you can really feel both of them working on your face. I recently bought some new ones back from holiday in Thailand and I've placed an order for some from actual Korean beauty brands so I'll be sure to let you know how they compare.

As I've said in countless favourites posts, during the winter months I really try my best to take good care of my skin, especially upping my exfoliating routine to get rid of any dry, dead skin cells. I have recently become obsessed with coffee scrubs, as an alternative, natural exfoliator. My current go to is the Ground Coconut Coffee Scrub it's incredibly affordable and there is a very generous amount of product in the packaging so it is long lasting. Since using this product I've noticed a massive improvement in the firmness of my skin, it also feels a lot smoother and softer. I've also noticed a huge improvement in the amount of cellulite around my thighs and bum. Another great thing about this product is the scent, it's coffee scented obviously, but it also smells so natural.

As I mentioned in my November FavouritesNetflix is absolutely crushing it at the moment with amazing tv series'. My latest obsession comes in the form of Alias Grace, the premise of the show is based on the murders of Thomas Kinnear and Nancy Montgomery in 1843 and the involvement of Grace Marks. Whilst being based on factual events the show has introduced fictional characters. The mini series follows a doctor interviewing Grace to try and discover whether she is in fact innocent as she claims, the true murderer or whether she is clinically insane. Despite being only 6 episodes long the show is incredibly gripping and constantly leaves you with mixed feelings and confusion as to what the truth is. It is incredibly well made and despite there being a lot of narrative it really keeps your attention through the use of flashbacks. I really like this show because it brings together mental health and murder, such topics I find so interesting. I would thoroughly recommend giving this a watch if you're looking for something that will keep you on the edge of the seat and play with your mind a little.

I got this Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream as part of a set last Christmas and somehow I must have forgot I had it as I found it sat unopened in a random makeup bag. Charlotte Tilbury is such a hugely hyped brand that I couldn't believe I'd let it go unopened and thought I ought to finally see what the fuss was about. I can now definitely see what the fuss is about this product is the perfect moisturiser for the winter months, it has an almost oily consistency when it's on the face but doesn't leave your face oily at all. It dries really quickly but also leaves your skin feeling so hydrated, it's one of those products that leaves your face glowing. I'm not sure this is a product I'll be able to replace once it's done with because it is a bit costly, but whilst I have it I am definitely going to continue to reach for it.

In case you didn't already know, every year H&M collaborates with a designer and create a limited edition autumn line. This years collaboration was with Erdem, I initially wasn't convinced they'd be able to top last years collaboration with Kenzo but boy was I very, very wrong. The H&M x ERDEM collaboration was off the chart, the perfect mix of feminine floral prints mixed with a kind of darker, slightly gothic design. It's safe to say it was right up my street, and I was lucky enough to be able to pick up 3 pieces; a floral Jaquard print jacket and trouser suit and a floral, lace blouse... thank you work discount. I am so excited to style these pieces properly and share some proper outfit photos soon.

After years of dyeing, my hair is probably past the point of frazzled and I'm always looking to try something new to bring it back to life. I'd heard people talk about OGX Shampoos and conditioners and rave about them so much but always avoided them due to them a bit too on the pricey side. During December I decided to say fuck it and finally give them a go - partly as well due to a cushty buy one get one free offer, thanks boots - and I'm so glad I did. I opted for the OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco because we've all heard about the benefits of moroccan oil and argan oil. Since using these my hair has definitely felt a lot smoother & softer and I've noticed a lot less split ends and frizz.

For my birthday at the beginning of December my best friend treated me to the Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone Illustrated Edition. It was such a nice surprise, as like many of you I'm sure, I am a massive Harry Potter fan. Whilst I already own countless version of this book, this particular edition is so special, the illustrations by Jim Kay are absolutely beautiful and it makes the whole thing so much more magical. It's definitely the perfect way to introduce the Harry Potter world to children, I don't have any of those so I'm just over here appreciating it myself.

What were your favourite things in December?
Do you have any recommendations for me?
