Welcome 2013!

First of all I'd like to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, or any other Holiday that you celebrate and I would also like to wish everyone a very happy New Year. Sorry for not really posting much over the festive period, I've just been rather busy spending time with family and friends and trying to see people as much as possible as people are only home from uni for a certain period of time and I wanted to make sure I made the most of it.

So were now in 2013, first things first looks like we all survived the apocalypse for the gazzilionth time (don't  think that's a word) I wonder how many we will face in the upcoming year. I'm really not very good at setting new years resolutions so rather than attempting and failing to a) exercise more b) stop eating chocolate c) stop spending money - all the usual things I am rubbish at doing I thought this year I would try and make some aims regarding my personality and life to change myself for the better and not only that just to embrace this year more than I did 2012. For me 2012 was a bit of a 'meh' year, not necessarily bad just uneventful and I don't want to coast through this year I want to do things and try new things, 13 is my lucky number after all.

So here are a few of my aims for 2013:

                                                                  Say Yes More

I hate to admit it but I am one of these people who is notorious for making excuses to avoid doing things. This year I want to say yes to things more (maybe not to the extent of Jim Carrey in 'Yes Man') but definitely to more things in general, especially if its something I'm unsure about, I think its good to add a little of uncertainty in to our lives to keep us on our toes. Obviously not to the extent that you endanger yourself, others or do anything your not supposed to. Lets stay sensible people.

                                                                   Try New Things

Similar to the previous point, to put it simply if you don't try things then you never know if you like them. So my aim is not necessarily out with the old, but definitely in with the new be it: food, drink, books, people, experiences anything really. I have found that it is really easy to just be content with what you have and not that I think that comfort and content is bad I think a bit of surprise and spontaneity is good for us all and should be relished not feared.

                                                                   Smile More

It is strange how much a smile can change your face, I think a smile is one of the most beautiful things in the world, there is nothing nicer to see than someone being happy. Unfortunately I was born with a rather grumpy looking natural face, and even if I am in a great mood and just having a think or just not concentrating my face gives off a completely different image thus prompting numerous "are you alright?" and "Cheer up grumpy." So one of my aims is to smile more, not in a false way but to try to express my happiness on my face as well as inside, I also think if I smile and I am in a bad mood then it will cheer me up and you never know it might cheer someone else up.

So they are three of the main things I want to make sure I do in 2013 and they are things I would recommend others to do. Have you got any resolutions/aims planned for 2013? I'd love to hear what you want to try and do this year.

Hope you all enjoying the beginning of a *hopefully* very happy year :)
